Taking care of young children's ears

Ears in infants and young children are very fragile and require specific attention. Compared to that of adults, the ear canal in children is relatively narrow and susceptible to accumulation of earwax. It is therefore necessary to make sure that children’s ears are always clean.

Good ear hygiene will preserve your child's hearing and contribute to its proper development. Hearing impairments may disrupt his or her integration in day care or at school. They can impact on learning and language comprehension and may lead to psychological isolation, falling back or academic failure.

From a medical point of view: children are often subject to ear infections, the presence of earwax plugs can obscure the tympanic membrane, making it difficult to check its condition.
